the real question is why I was completely ready to accept that this person had a debilitating childhood fear of Danny Devito
I heard that Mr. Neill Blomkamp only had you in mind for the role. Did this make it easy for you to play the character or did this put more pressure on you? It was very flattering. I just came on and he was like “I want you to do you, just bring what you want to the role.” I was like “Really?” It was incredible because you’ve got a guy that exactly knows what he wants but he trusts in his actors incredibly. So we’ve got to come on and have a really good time and play, so I didn’t really feel the pressure.
“[Andy Samberg and I] have a lot of fun when we get to do Jake and Amy scenes because there are so many different dynamics to their relationship, especially as they’re getting to know each other on a personal level. There’s a lot to play around with, and we work really hard on those Jake and Amy scenes. There’s a moment in the ‘The Bet’ episode, on the roof, where we both crack up laughing and that was actually because I accidentally got a peanut in my mouth when I wasn’t supposed to.
